1. CHARITABLE PURPOSE & STEWARDSHIP
All tithes, offerings, building fund contributions, and financial gifts received by the Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Calgary (“EEC Calgary”) are allocated directly toward fulfilling our ministry purposes: weekly worship services, pastoral family care, community children and youth discipleship, gospel outreach, and ongoing church property and facility expenses.
EEC Calgary is committed to transparent financial accountability under the guidelines set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for registered Canadian charities.
2. WAYS TO GIVE & PAYMENT SECURITY
We prioritize secure donation methods that incur minimal processing overhead so your gifts go directly to ministry work:
Sent directly through Canadian financial institutions with zero deductions or middleman fees.
*Please specify your full legal name, mailing address, and gift purpose (e.g., Tithe, Offering, Building) in the transfer notes for tax receipting.
Online payment links and scan-to-pay QR codes redirect securely to authorized Canadian non-profit processors. EEC Calgary does not store or process debit/credit card numbers on its servers.
3. OFFICIAL DONATION TAX RECEIPTS
In compliance with CRA regulations, official donation tax receipts for income tax purposes are issued for eligible charitable gifts:
- Annual Cumulative Receipts: Receipts for Interac e-Transfers, cheques, and in-person offerings totaling $20 or more during a calendar year are prepared and issued by February 28 of the following calendar year.
- Donor Information Requirement: To legally issue an official CRA tax receipt, we must have the donor's full legal name, current Canadian mailing address, and email on record.
- Non-Receiptable Contributions: In-kind volunteer time, services rendered, or directed gifts where the donor retains control or receives private material benefit are not eligible for tax receipts under Canadian tax law.
4. REFUND & CORRECTION POLICY
Under Canadian charity law, voluntary charitable contributions are irrevocable transfers of property and cannot generally be refunded once processed.
Exceptions for Administrative or Technical Errors: If a technical glitch occurs during an online payment (such as an accidental duplicate charge or an obvious data-entry mistake in the transaction amount), the donor must notify the church treasury in writing within 30 days of the transaction date. Verified administrative errors will be reviewed and refunded promptly to the originating payment account.
